PREFIT Project and Remote Handling Training at JET

Robin Shuff (UK), Ryan King (UK), Teemu Kekalainen (Finland), Karoliina Salminen (Finland), Greg Dubus (France) and Jean-Baptiste Izard (France) are working on remote handling as part of the PREFIT research and training programme.

PREFIT (http://www.prefit.eu/) is an integrated program of research and training offered by an international partnership of industry, university and research institutes. The scheme is funded by the European Commission under "Framework Programme 6" and is aimed at identifying and training the next generation of remote handling engineers for ITER (http://www.iter.org).

The students participated in the 1st PREFIT Annual Workshop on 5th and 6th June 2007 at Culham and helped in the preparation of a TV5 film on fusion energy to be broadcast on French television later in the year.
