Message from the Director Mr Fernandez Ruiz

"Dear Delegates

I am pleased to announce that today the Council adopted a decision establishing a European Joint Undertaking for ITER and the development of fusion energy.

This decision marks an important landmark for the fusion development since it lays down the legal foundations of the European contribution to ITER and to the Broader Approach activities and finalise the process of establishing the necessary instruments. 

I would like to sincerely thank the whole fusion community in Europe for the vigilance, collaboration and support it demonstrated throughout the recent years that enabled the accomplishment of such a complex task 

It is with particular pride that the Council's decision of today, that will mark the next decades for fusion development, nearly perfectly coincides with the 50th anniversary of EURATOM.
