EFDA Associate Leader of JET and the Close Support Unit, Culham
The EFDA Associate Leader for JET is responsible for the collective use of
the JET facilities. He prepares the JET Workprogramme which is a costed plan produced annually
specifying experimental campaigns, shutdowns and implementation of enhancements.
The EFDA Associate Leader for JET is supported in the overall planning and the general administration
responsibilities by the EFDA Close Support Unit Culham (CSU Culham). It consists
of a staff of about 35, and is divided into five departments:

The UKAEA as operator of the JET facilities
The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Culham Division acts as the operator of
JET and is in charge of the operation and safety of the JET facilities for its European partners
in EFDA. It is responsible for maintaining, operating and making available the JET facilities.
Furthermore the UKAEA is concerned with the installation and commissioning of enhancements
and other equipment.
