JET and ITER

Despite the progress continuously achieved on JET (left) and other fusion experiments, it is clear that a larger and more powerful device would be necessary to demonstrate the feasibility of nuclear fusion energy on a reactor scale. This is the purpose of the research and development project ITER (right) (latin for "the way").
