Information for Internship Scheme

EFDA-JET offers European students a tutorship from expert scientists but does not provide any kind of financial support. Students must therefore rely on other schemes for funding (e.g. grants from universities, grants from EURATOM Associations, national funds for higher education, etc.). The arrangements for such support are entirely the responsibility of the applicant.

The typical duration of an internship at EFDA-JET is 3 months. Selected students will have a local tutor appointed to them by EFDA-JET. The local tutor and the student will decide on a work plan for a specific activity, and determine the start and end dates.

At the end of the period the student will be required to produce a detailed report of his activities here. The report will be assessed by the local tutor and may be used, if applicable, for the student’s academic career.

Subsidised Internship Schemes

Some European countries such as France and Italy have, in the past, subsidised part of the expenditure (travel and accommodation) for students from universities of the respective countries. Such schemes may be continued in the future. Examples of projects recently undertaken by internship students supported by the embassies : French and Italian.

Availability of subsidised internship schemes :

  • For 2008 there are no internship schemes open and the Embassy subsidies have already been allocated.

Un-Subsidised Internship Schemes

Candidates who are not participating in a subsidised internship scheme (mentioned above) are generally selected at the end of each calendar year for the following year. The deadline for applications will be announced in the 'Call for Applications' below. Applications are only eligible if they are accompanied by a supporting letter from a recognized representative of the university normally in the person of the academic tutor of the student. The outcome of the selection process will be communicated by December of the current year.

Call for Applications :

  • The deadline for applications for the next calendar year will be announced in due course this autumn.
